The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team competes as part of the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, representing the University of Nebraska in the West Division of the Big Ten. Nebraska plays its home games at Memorial Stadium, where it has sold out every game since 1962.

Malcolm X was an African-American Muslim minister and human rights activist. He was also born in Nebraska in 1925. He was assassinated February 21, 1965.

Kool-Aid, the popular powdered drink mix, was developed by Edwin Perkins in Hastings, Nebraska. As a boy working in his family's general store in Hendley, Perkins became interested in a new powdered dessert mix named Jell-O and persuaded his father to carry it in the store.

Nebraskas slogan used to be "Nebraska, the Good Life." but now they changed it to "Honestly, It's not for Everyone.". Nebraska's tourism industry in the state has broken records.

Nebraska gets its name from an Indian word meaning "flat water" after the Platte River that flows through the state. The Nebraska Territory was formed in 1854 at the same time as the Kansas Territory. Nebraska was admitted into the Union in 1867 as the 37th state.
